DEMO
Hear it move
Cartografia is a soundscape atlas for Ableton Live. Place up to eight sounds on a map, as places, and let a listener walk among them: distance becomes sound. Each place plays as a loop or as scattered events, the listener moves by hand or on its own, and a single Meteo control takes the whole scene from calm to storm.
HOW IT WORKS
A MAP INSTEAD OF A MIXER
01
Eight places on a soundscape map
Drop a sample on each of the eight places and drag it anywhere on the map. Each place plays as a seamless loop, or as scattered events: rain, birds, a far bell, a passing voice.
02
One listener
Move the listener by hand, or let it drift, orbit or trace a figure eight. Distance becomes sound: level, stereo position, air and reverb follow where it stands.
03
Weather
One Meteo control takes the whole scene from calm to storm: gusts, restless events, a faster walk. Underneath, a living wind layer with its own gusts and tone.
