It’s a great pleasure to invite you tomorrow, Saturday June 29th at 7 PM, to the Museo Archeoindustriale di Terra d’Otranto (MAiTO – Maglie), for the presentation of my installation “When Sound Becomes Landscape”, created together with the students of the Liceo Artistico Nino della Notte in Poggiardo.
This work blends sound and photography, and is built around the sounds of traditional local crafts: iron, tanning, tobacco, pasta, wine, hats. We recorded field recordings of the tools and machines preserved in the museum, as well as of local artisans, and transformed them into autonomous sound compositions.
To make the experience even more vivid, we added a podcasting element in which the students narrate – in a personal and storytelling-driven way – what they heard, experienced, and transformed.
️ The work is part of the broader project “AA.VV. Autori Vari”, a collective narration of the Salento region involving artists, researchers, students, and young people aged 17 to 21, engaged in creating new shared perspectives and languages.
My installation will be presented alongside the work of Claudia Mollese, artist and creator of “Weaving and Telling Stories”, a visual narrative based on biographical elements.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at MAiTO in Maglie, to share a listening experience that weaves together sound, memory, and storytelling.
